On Monday we began a Facing History and Ourselves unit of study. They will be studying the events that led up to the Holocaust (Letters went home on Monday explaining). I had the students write the supplies they need for the unit on the back of the letter. They were a folder with pockets and brads, a highlighter and loose-leaf paper (about 50 sheets).
Monday they created their own identity charts about who they are. I emphasized that every person is a different individual and that no two people will bring the same things to the table in their groups. They all seemed to do a good job with this.
I’ll keep you updated on the lessons as best that I can.

Dear parents:
We began TCAP testing today and I can not begin to tell you how many of are students are suffering from allergies or getting over colds! My class alone in 2 hours went through half of a large box of tissue (my last box). I’m sure the other homerooms are having the same problem. If you can donate a box to your student’s homeroom this week it would help us out.
Thank you,

Tomorrow the students will take a test over the last 8 TN vocabulary words. We have begun reviewing for TCAP. Each day they will be covering covered objectives and discussing or illustrating them in their SPI book. They can show you the SPI’s in their SS book. There will be homework on Thursday that will be due next week. It is important that they complete it as it is material that could be covered on the test.

Today was a great day in SS classes. Your students tested and challenged themselves over geography knowledge on line. I’m including two websites so they may continue or they can show you what they did.
I’m very proud of them!
www.ilike2learn.com
www.sheppardsoftware.com
Both sites are free!

Today we went to the computer lab and work on line at a site that was on TN geography. The students drew maps and labeled rivers, cities and divisions. I was very pleased to know that most remembered what they learned from the first part of the year and can draw from memory! I’m so proud!
Tomorrow we will return to chapters 21 and 22.

Last week I gave 2 assignments. Many students were involved in the program and were not in class. Due to that fact, Chapters 21 and 22 assignments have been extended until tomorrow.
